Automatic vs. Kinetic

Recommended Posts

The difference between an automatic movement and a kinetic movement.

IAll watches tell time, but some function in different ways. Automatic and kinetic watches represent two different eras of watch manufacturing

and two different approaches to reaching one desired effect. Kinetic is a quartz (electrical) movement which is self powered, meaning the rotor charges a capacitor.

Automatic, on the other hand, is a mechanical movement in which the rotor charges a spring.

The rotor is a weight which spins around due to the movement of the wearer's wrist.
