What does "argenté" signify?

Recommended Posts

So when looking at watch specs, specifically those of the 1815 up/down, you notice that Lange describes the dial as "solid silver, argenté."

What does argenté mean in watch parlance? I'd think, if I saw "argent massif," that it meant solid silver, and that "argenté" meant silver plate. Silvered silver?

Noobish question, I know!

In more practical terms, Lange makes two types of lighter colored dials, argente and rhodie. The argente is a lighter silver look. The rhodie, typically seen on their platinum watches, has a darker silver, grayish appearance.
