Hello,
I have the opportunity to purchase a vintage Gruen Chrono-timer in 14kt gold. It is in good original cosmetic condition, with one scratch across the crystal. It is running, but the chrono feature is not. It is being offered to me for $800. I was hoping if someone could steer me in the right direction with this purchase. I really appreciate any advice. Thank you.

I would say it depends on the chrono issue. Sounds like an awesome watch that could be worth servicing at that price. Do you know which movement it has? Pics of case, dial, movement would really be needed for best advice.

This is the only picture I have right now, but let me know what you think. Thank you.

Buying with only this photo is a gamble. Movement can be rusty(parts need replacing), can be incomplete(need to get parts) and so on. Even the caseback could be changed for non gold version, You just do not know what You do not see
